Midterm Recess Workshops

AGHF girls attending a midterm recess workshop

A Full Day of Friends, Workshops, Food & Fun!

AGHF mentors were able to meet with AGHF girls this month. This is a great opportunity for the AGHF mentors to assess progress and help with any struggles the girls may be experiencing at this mid-term point.

Workshops!

AGHF girls on scholarships living in Githurai, Kasarani, Kitengela, Umoja, and Kayole gathered together for “Midterm Recess Workshops”. This activity was facilitated by the AGHF Kenya mentor team.

The workshops encouraged the girls to

  • reflect on their academic journey,

  • share experiences,

  • and receive help, support & guidance on overcoming any current and ongoing challenges they may be facing.

🎯 Our goal is that every girl knows she has a group of people cheering for her. Especially because our AGHF girls are orphans or refugees, we work to fill them with hope in all areas of their lives. AGHF works tirelessly to ensure these girls are not only going to school but have the support they need to succeed. We are so grateful for the care and hard work given by our AGHF mentors.

Highlights of the Day

  • Theme & Inspiration: This session emphasized setting a positive example through speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.

  • Experience Sharing: The girls discussed their experiences of adjusting to new schools, and shared the challenges they face - like academic pressure, time management, and peer influence.

  • Guidance & Solutions: The AGHF team encouraged focus, goal-setting, healthy relationships, and effective use of social media for academic success.

  • Encouragement: The AGHF Team discussed the girls’ appreciation for their scholarships, how to prioritize education, and maintain discipline and respect.

The workshops concluded with a renewed commitment from the girls to strive for excellence*, make wise choices, and uphold the values of AGHF.

📢 THANK YOU!

We want to shout it out! Thank you to our amazing AGHF Mentors and volunteers! Thank you for the time, care and effort you put into making this day a success for each girl!
