Welcome to Nembu High School
🏫Hope Has an Address
As you drive through the school gates, you are entering a large courtyard. There are many surrounding buildings: classrooms, dorms, cafeteria, and a large gathering hall. But what is unique about Nembu High School is that it is a place that dares to believe in girls. Their school administration works to ensure each girl is not only educated but also filled with hope.
A Place of Becoming
We are grateful for the partnership AGHF has with Nembu High School. Many of our AGHF girls attend this local school. We are grateful to the administration, which seeks the highest level of quality for the girls attending their school. We are inspired by their passion for not only education, but the success of each girl. They believe in wisdom, trust, time management, and vision!

Inside the Walls of Nembu High School
There is a great sisterhood found here among our AGHF girls. Together, they support each other and, with the guidance of great teachers and academic leadership, they are discovering confidence, dignity, and the possibility of a bright future they can carve out for themselves!
🐷Pigs and 🌱Gardens:
Nembu High is a wonderful place to learn!
There were not only classrooms and science labs, but we were especially excited to see the school’s agriculture program. Around the back and along the side of the school were long, plentiful rows of vegetables. The girls help plant, tend, and harvest the large garden that the kitchens use to help feed the girls. They are also planting flowers to create a beautiful border around the school.
And then we heard it—the sounds of pigs! Yes, Nembu has an animal section where the girls can learn how to care for and tend pigs! What a great hands-on opportunity to learn the basics of growing food and caring for animals—skills they can take with them long after they leave school.
As we toured the grounds, we also discovered a large covered area of cut wood over near the kitchens. The wood fuels the fires used to prepare meals in the school’s enormous cooking pots. With nearly 1,000 girls to feed, it takes a lot of food—and a lot of cabbage! Just look at the photo!
We loved seeing how Nembu combines academics with practical, everyday skills. It’s another wonderful example of the opportunities our scholarship girls have to learn, grow, and prepare for their futures.
Visitors from the US and Canada:
Dr. Grace and Denis, along with Sam Lee, a Board Member from the US, and Valerie, US staff, and the entire Kenya staff team, were excited to spend the morning at Nembu High School. Also visiting came a special surprise for the girls - not only did they get to interact with Dr. Grace, but a special mentor who had moved to Canada returned to visit! Uncle JC (as we all call him) flew in from Canada to visit the girls and encourage them in their studies and personal struggles.
🌷A Huge Thank You to the Nembu Administration and Staff:
As we toured the high school, we were impressed with how well-maintained and bright the entire property was. You could see the pride and care put into not only the girls’ education, but also their surroundings. We were honored and impressed by the care of the principal and her one-on-one interactions with the girls.
